Poor Man’s Proverbs #16: God’s Special Gift

God’s special gift.

Today we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As we spend time with family and friends, let us not forget the greatest love story ever told. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Note 2 self: In other words, God loved us some much that He sent  His only Son on a suicide mission so that we might have an opportunity at eternal life with Him.  God took on human form and suffered a shameful and painful death for all of humanity. Who are you willing to die for? Perhaps you would give your life for your children, parents, dear friends and possibly other relatives whom you love.  But, would you give your life for the kid who bullied you in the 5th grade or the mass murderer who recently killed those innocent people in the Jewish synagogue in Pennsylvania?  I would think NO!  Without a doubt, God loves us, and yes – Jesus’ sacrifice for us is the greatest love story ever told.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Blessings to you all, my friends.

Update 2/10/19 Here is my special Valentine’s Day week Facebook live video on this theme.

Poor Man’s Proverbs #15: Do You Have A Good Cornerman?

Do you have a good cornerman?

A cornerman is a coach or trainer whose job is to assist a boxer at the corner between rounds.  He is the one who informs the boxer what he is doing wrong.  He gives his fighter encouragement with the end goal of helping him to win the match.

Life is essentially one boxing match (trial and tribulation) after another.  There are many unknown forces waging war against us but there is one force who is in our corner. Jesus is the Lord of the universe and beyond.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lend not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5-6.

Note 2 self: The force of one is all you need but in reality, you get three – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

To the question, do you have a good cornerman? If Jesus is your cornerman, you have the BEST there is.

Blessings to you all, my friends.

Poor Man’s Proverbs #14: Are We Using The Tools In God’s Toolbox?

Are we using the tools in God’s toolbox?

So, what exactly are the tools in God’s toolbox?  Well, one could consider the fruits of the Holy Spirit as God’s tools. The use of these tools shows the existence of God to humanity.   What are these tools/fruits of the Holy Spirit? Galatians 5:22-23 states the following: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control….”

Note 2 self: No one ever said that mastering these tools would be easy, but with continuous effort and prayer we do it.  As Christians, we are God’s representatives on earth.  We are to be Christ-like. The fruits of the Spirit are the virtues of God. When we exhibit these fruits,  people can see God through us, and many will want to know Him as a result of what they see in us.

So to the question, are we using the tools in God’s toolbox? If we are not using the fruits of the Holy Spirit daily, then the answer is no.  If using all the tools every day proves to be a bit of a challenge, then use at least one tool every day until eventually, we master them all. Remember, when people see the fruits the Holy Spirit in us; they will see God.

Blessings to you all, my friends.

Poor Man’s Proverbs #13: When TRUTH Intersects With A Lie, What Happens?

A lie is happy to exist when it has no challenges to its core of deception, but what happens when it intersects with truth?  The lie usually multiplies itself as it tries to counter the boldness and purity of truth. This is usually when you hear the old statement, “What had happened was…”  At that point, the lie is desperate and is merely grabbing at straws in an attempt to stay true to itself.

A lie multiplies itself as a strategy to defend and beat truth, but it is pointless. Truth has a Teflon like effect; nothing sticks to it. It can’t be denied its natural place above every form of a lie.

Note 2 Self: It has been said that the truth will set you free. However, a lie will only give you a false sense of security until it is eventually discovered and exposed.

Blessings to you all, my friends.
